With the new MITOYA ORCA 230 RGB, the ORCA line gains full colour control in a compact COB LED spotlight. This model is designed for photo and video workflows where strong white light, RGB control and Bowens compatibility are needed in one fixture.
Compared with the ORCA 230 Bi-color and ORCA 330 Bi-color, the new RGB version keeps the compact body, high output and modifier-friendly design. At the same time, it adds RGB/HSI 360° colour control and 24 built-in lighting effects.
As a result, MITOYA ORCA 230 RGB can support several roles on set. Depending on the setup, it can work as a key light, an effect light, a coloured background source or a practical fixture for creative video production.
White light, RGB and built-in effects
In CCT mode, the lamp offers adjustable colour temperature from 2700 to 6500 K. Therefore, the light can be matched to ambient conditions, product setups or the visual mood of a scene.
For white-light work, the fixture delivers 230 W of output and up to 11,500 lm. In addition, the CRI 95+ rating supports accurate colour reproduction.
Accurate colour is especially important in product photography, portrait work, beauty content and video production. In these applications, skin tones and product colours need to remain consistent.
With RGB/HSI 360° mode, the user can control hue, saturation and intensity. In practice, this helps change the look of a frame without colour gels, filters or extra RGB fixtures.
Additionally, the lamp includes 24 EFFECT presets. These programs can simulate strobe, police lights, candlelight and fireworks. Because of that, the fixture works well for short-form video, commercials, social content and creative product shots.
ORCA 230 RGB vs ORCA Bi-color models
For regular white-light production, the ORCA 230 Bi-color and ORCA 330 Bi-color remain strong choices. Therefore, they work well for interviews, product photography, portrait sessions, beauty setups and studio production.
By contrast, the ORCA 230 RGB extends this workflow with colour and lighting effects. It can be used as a main light, rim light, coloured background light or effect source.
For clients who need one compact fixture for several types of setups, this gives more flexibility. In short, the Bi-color models focus on consistent white light, while MITOYA ORCA 230 RGB adds colour, atmosphere and creative control on set.
Bowens mount, compact body and control
Thanks to the standard Bowens mount, the lamp is compatible with popular light modifiers. These include softboxes, lantern softboxes, reflectors, snoots and beauty dishes.
Because of this, the light can be shaped for different types of work. A softbox creates softer light for portraits and beauty. Meanwhile, a reflector gives a more focused beam. A snoot helps create a precise accent, whereas a lantern softbox spreads light more evenly across the space.
For small studios, mobile setups, beauty workstations and product shooting spaces, the compact housing is a practical advantage. Moreover, the lamp does not require an external power adapter. This reduces the number of cables on set and speeds up setup changes.
Control is available directly from the rear panel with the TFT display. Alternatively, the fixture can be adjusted through a Bluetooth mobile app. In larger lighting setups, support for 6 groups and 100 channels helps manage several lights by role, such as key light, rim light, background light or RGB accent.
